Meet The Speakers

Franklin García-Godoy, D.D.S., M.S., Ph.D.
Dr. García-Godoy is a full Professor of Dentistry, specializing in pediatric dentistry, dental trauma management, clinical trials, and biomaterials research. Based in Memphis, Tennessee, he has educated and mentored thousands of dental students and residents, providing advanced, evidence-based dental care.
Dr. García-Godoy is an award-winning, prolific scholar with over 700 publications spanning peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and scientific abstracts. He is the editor of the American Journal of Dentistry and serves on the editorial boards of several leading dental journals. He is also a co-author of the widely used textbook “Primary Preventive Dentistry.”

Richard Gray D.D.S., F.A.C.D.
Dr. Gray graduated from dental school in 1990 from the University of Southern California (USC). Upon completion of dental school, Dr. Gray served in the United States Navy as a dental officer. While in the Navy, he completed a General Practice Residency at Naval Hospital, Camp Pendleton. In 1993, Dr. Gray opened Fountain Hills Family Dentistry in Fountain Hills, Arizona, where he practiced general dentistry until 1998.
As a general dentist, Dr. Gray served as a consultant dentist for the Anaheim Angels and the Milwaukee Brewers professional baseball teams. In 1998, Dr. Gray returned to USC to begin his Endodontics residency. Upon completing his residency, he established East Valley Endodontics in Mesa, Arizona. He was recalled to active duty in 2007 and served a tour of duty in support of Iraqi Freedom 2007-2008. Upon his return, he relocated to the East Coast and established Apex Endodontics of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia. In 2020, He retired from the Navy Reserve as a Captain.
Dr. Gray left private practice in 2021 to accept a full-time academic position as the Director of Predoctoral Endodontics at Loma Linda University, School of Dentistry (LLUSD). In July 2025, he was appointed Department Chair of Endodontics at LLUSD, where he is involved with both graduate and undergraduate endodontic education.

Joseph Katz, D.M.D.
Dr. Katz is Professor Emeritus and former Section Head of Oral Medicine, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Diagnostic Sciences, at the University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida. He maintained an active patient care practice and is deeply involved in teaching and translational research.
Dr. Katz received his D.M.D. degree and specialty certificate in Oral Medicine from the Hebrew University-Hadassah School of Dental Medicine, Jerusalem. He then completed a fellowship at the NIDCR –NIH and the Eastman Dental Institute in London.
Dr. Katz is a member of the American Academy of Oral Medicine. He has authored over 240 peer-reviewed publications and serves on the editorial boards of several scientific and dental journals. He has lectured extensively nationally and internationally.

Alan S. Law D.D.S., Ph.D.
Dr. Law received his D.D.S. and Certificate in Endodontics from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in Iowa City, Iowa. He also completed his Ph.D. in “Mechanisms and Modulation of Orofacial Pain” at the Department of Pharmacology, University of Iowa.
Dr. Law has published over 50 articles in scientific and clinical journals and has co-authored chapters on orofacial pain and regenerative endodontics in Pathways of the Pulp and The Dental Pulp. He is an editor of Endodontics: Principles and Practice and has lectured at over 400 local, national, and international meetings.
Dr. Law is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Endodontics, and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists. Dr. Law is a past president of the Minnesota Association of Endodontists, the American Association of Endodontists, and the American Board of Endodontics.
Dr. Law is in full-time practice in the Twin Cities and serves as President of The Dental Specialists, a multi-specialty dental practice with over 44 specialists. He is also Chief Clinical Officer for Specialty Practices at Park Dental Partners, Inc., and a Research Professor in the Division of Endodontics at the University of Minnesota.

Peter E. Murray, B.Sc. (Hons), Ph.D. J.D.
Dr. Murray is a full Professor of Endodontics and Periodontics, based in San Francisco, California. He has trained over 2,000 endodontic residents and dental students in regenerative endodontic procedures.
Dr. Murray has authored over 200 peer-reviewed publications, including scientific articles, book chapters, and abstracts, and is the author of the textbook “A Concise Guide to Regenerative Endodontic Procedures.”
In 2013, he was honored with the Ralph F. Sommer Award by the American Association of Endodontists in recognition of his distinguished contributions to the science and practice of endodontics.

Frank C. Setzer, D.M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Setzer received his dental and doctoral degrees from the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany, in 1995 and 1998; and his Endodontic specialty certificate, MS in Oral Biology, and DMD from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, USA, in 2006, 2008, and 2010, respectively. He is an Associate Professor of Endodontics at the University of Pennsylvania, serving as Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs as of 2026, previously holding positions as Endodontic Clinic and Predoctoral Program Director.
His research interests include the clinical detection, prognosis, and assessment of periradicular pathology, particularly apical periodontitis, using CBCT imaging and Artificial Intelligence, as well as endodontic microsurgery.
Dr. Setzer is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics (ABE), a member of the American Association of Endodontists (AAE), and a dental faculty member of OKU. He is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Endodontics and the European Endodontic Journal, and he serves on several other editorial review boards.

José Siqueira D.D.S., M.Sc., Ph.D.
Dr. Siqueira received his DDS in 1989, his endodontic certificate in 1992, and his Master’s and PhD in Microbiology and Immunology in 1996 and 1998, respectively, all in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He is currently an Adjunct Professor in the Postgraduate Program in Dentistry at Grande Rio University, in Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil. He is also the Director of the Postgraduate Program in Dentistry at Iguaçu University, Nova Iguaçu, RJ, Brazil.
Dr. Siqueira has authored the books “Treatment of Endodontic Infections” and “Endodontology: an integrated biological and clinical view”, and 8 other books about Endodontics or Microbiology in Portuguese. He also authored or co-authored several chapters for leading international endodontic textbooks as well as more than 430 scientific papers.
Dr. Siqueira has received several international awards, including the prestigious Louis I. Grossman Award from the American Association of Endodontists in 2014 and the French Endodontic Society in 2012, for cumulative publication of significant research studies that have made an extraordinary contribution to endodontics.
He served as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Endodontics from 2006 to 2008. His primary research interests are in endodontic microbiology and infection control. He is actively lecturing on endodontics worldwide.

Peter Z. Tawil, DMD, MS, FRCD(C)
After studying Mechanical Engineering at McGill University, Dr Tawil decided to pursue his interest in dentistry in 1999. He obtained his D.M.D. from the Université de Montréal, his AEGD certificate from the University of Rochester, and his Master’s degree in Endodontics from the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill.
Dr. Tawil began an academic appointment at UNC in 2011, where he progressed to become the Olmsted Family Distinguished Professor and Director of Graduate Endodontics. He has over 60 publications, with an emphasis on Endodontics and Periapical Microsurgery.
Outside of his endodontic track, he co-founded the Montreal Homeless Street Youth Dental Clinic, initiated the Tawil Humanitarian Dental Fund at the University of North Carolina, and has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to his ongoing mission work in underdeveloped nations.
Since 2011, Dr. Tawil has served as the President of the TarHeel Endodontic Association, which represents all the endodontists of the state of North Carolina. He obtained his board certification as a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists in 2008 and as a Diplomate of the American Association of Endodontics in 2009.
In his spare time, Dr. Tawil enjoys spending time with his wife and children, as well as pursuing his hobbies, including tennis, golf, snowboarding, video gaming, and traveling.

Yoshitsugu Terauchi D.D.S., Ph.D.
Dr. Terauchi is an adjunct professor at the Department of Endodontics, Faculty of Dentistry, Bahçeşehir University, İstanbul, Turkey, an adjunct clinical assistant professor of Endodontics at Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, and an adjunct lecturer at Tokyo Medical & Dental University, while maintaining a private practice limited to endodontics in Yamato City Kanagawa prefecture, Japan since 1998.
He earned his DDS in 1993 and completed his residency at Tokyo Medical & Dental University in 1995, where he also received his PhD from the Department of Endodontics. He has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals nationally and internationally. He also authored several chapters in textbooks, including the 11th and 12th editions of “Pathways of the Pulp”, the 6th and 7th editions of Principles and Practice”, and “Management of Fractured Instruments: Endodontic Advances and Evidence-Based Clinical Guidelines”. In 2024, he served as President of the 20th annual session of the Japan Association of Microscopic Dentistry (JAMD).
Dr. Terauchi has lectured nationally and internationally, both onsite and online, on numerous occasions a year, and practices at the CT & MicroEndodontic Center in Yamato City, Japan.
